Salvia leucantha Light Purple
1 litre sized pot. Also known as Mexican Bush Sage, Salvia leucantha is a showy member of the salvia family. In my garden it is cut back in winter by the frost but comes away from the ground again in spring but perhaps wouldn't handle harsh frost. The new foliage has a lime green tinge to begin with. This type has purple bracts with white/light purple velvety blooms, green furry leaves and light grey stems. I love to plant it alongside dahlias in various pink tones and Japanese anemones for a stunning autumn display. It reaches 1m once established with arching stems that show off its blooms beautifully. Likes a sunny position in well-drained soil.
