Verbascum phoeniceum Rosetta
This hardy perennial produces foliage rosettes of ovate dark green leaves that give rise to elegant spires of intense pink flowers. These strong, freestanding spires reach up to 80cm - 1m high. It prefers a sunny position in well-drained soil - they don't like wet feet. These verbascums look lovely partnered with roses or planted near hydrangeas and other cottage garden favourites. Best planted in groups of five, seven or more to create impact. To encourage repeat blooming cut off the central vertical stem once its flowered to encourage side shoots to flower. The name "Rosetta" means "little rose".
