Villaleigh Plants came about after our son Patrick's battle with cancer (Rhabdomyosarcoma) in 2014-2015 when he was 4-5 years old. I needed a job that had flexible hours to work around the kids and could be done from home and it made sense to work in something that I loved to do.
So it was devasting for us to discover in early May 2020, during a routine chest xray, that Patrick (aged 9) was going to have to fight that battle all over again. Patrick has now been diagnosed with a tumour called Ewings Sarcoma in his chest cavity.
So what does this mean for Villaleigh Plants? Well, after such a busy autumn of sales (thank you!!!) the nursery was going quiet for the winter months as I restocked but now I am uncertain of what spring will look like for us. Patricks treatment will continue through this year and into the next, it will also involve surgery and radiation. I may be able to offer some plants for sale in spring but this will depend on where we are at with Patrick's treatment at Starship.
I thank you all for your custom and I look forward to a time when Villaleigh Plants can have plants travelling to a variety of gardens around the country once more.
